John “Jack” G. Dean, managing shareholder of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre offices, concentrates his practice in commercial litigation in federal and state courts, as well as civil rights, construction, trade secrets, product liability and municipal actions. He also serves as solicitor to the Crestwood School District, the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Wilkes-Barre, the Borough of Nuangola, the Pittston Township Planning Commission, the Rice Township Planning Commission and the Jenkins Township American Legion Association. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dean worked as an engineering supervisor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Resources.

Mr. Dean’s professional experience includes successfully defending both local governmental agencies and individual governmental officials in claims involving alleged violations of the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments and successfully defending a case in which an international corporation was allegedly the subject of the multi-million dollar fraudulent bid-rigging scheme. Mr. Dean also has significant experience in labor law serving as chief labor negotiator for multiple entities in the public and private sectors. Mr. Dean’s labor experience includes successfully practicing before the National and Pennsylvania Labor Relations Boards.

He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Miami in 1983 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Temple University’s School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and the St. Thomas More Society. He was recently re-elected to his fourth four (4) year term as Democratic Committeeman for Fairview Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, and served as a member of the Luzerne County Democratic Executive Committee and as Treasurer of the Luzerne County Democratic Party. Mr. Dean also currently serves on the Fairview Township Planning Commission.

A member of the Bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, he is also a member of the Civil Court Rules and Fines and Forfeitures Committees of the Luzerne County Law Library Association.
